Privacy Policy
HyperChrono is a camera app. We built it to help you make great videos — not to collect your data. This page explains exactly what the app does and doesn't do with information on your device.
1. Data We Collect
HyperChrono collects no personal data. We do not collect, store, or sell any information that identifies you.
We do collect anonymous usage analytics through PostHog to understand how the app is used and improve it. This includes events like screen views and button taps. These events contain no personal identifiers, no device IDs, and no video or photo content.
Specifically, we do not collect:
- —Your name, email address, or any account information
- —Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- —Location data
- —Any video or photo content you record or export
2. Device Permissions
HyperChrono requests the following permissions to function. All data accessed through these permissions stays on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.
Camera
Required to record video. Without this permission the app cannot function. Video is recorded and processed entirely on your device.
Photo Library (Add Only)
Required to save your exported time-lapse videos to your Photos library. We only write to your library; we never read from it.
3. Third-Party Services
HyperChrono uses PostHog for anonymous product analytics. PostHog helps us understand which features are used and where the app can be improved.
What PostHog collects:
- —Anonymous usage events (e.g. screen views, button taps, feature usage)
- —General device type and OS version (e.g. "iPhone, iOS 18")
- —App version number
What PostHog does NOT collect:
- —Your name, email, or any personal identifiers
- —Advertising IDs or cross-app tracking identifiers
- —Any video or photo content from your recordings
- —Your precise location
HyperChrono does not use any advertising SDKs, Facebook SDK, AdMob, or similar tracking integrations. For more information about how PostHog handles data, see the PostHog Privacy Policy.
4. Data Storage & Security
All video content you record is stored locally on your device. HyperChrono does not upload, back up, or transmit your videos or any other device data to external servers. Your recordings are subject to your device's own security (Face ID, passcode, encryption) and iCloud backup settings, which are controlled entirely by you through iOS Settings.
5. Children's Privacy
HyperChrono does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. The app does not collect any personal information from any user, regardless of age.
6. Changes to This Policy
If this policy is ever updated, the new version will be posted at hyperchrono.app/privacy with an updated date at the top. We will notify users of material changes through the App Store update notes.
